|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Introduction: |
This international symposium follows on from the RSC Symposium on Continuous Flow Technology held at ChemspecEurope 2011 in Geneva. The production of speciality chemicals is still heavily reliant on batch processes, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector, and this symposium will highlight recent developments focussed on the growth of continuous processes in the fine chemicals and pharma industries. All the speakers are experts in their field and the presentations will be grouped into two sessions on Chemistry with Flow, two sessions on Equipping for Flow, and the final day will be devoted to three sessions on Processing with Flow. Specialised techniques, low temperature work, use of microwaves, hazardous chemistry etc., scale up, process optimisation, and production will be featured. Topics to be covered include:

This international symposium follows on from the RSC Symposium on Continuous Flow Technology held at ChemspecEurope 2011 in Geneva. The production of speciality chemicals is still heavily reliant on batch processes, particularly in thepharmaceutical sector, and this symposium will highlight recent developments focussed on the growth of continuous processes in the fine chemicals and pharma industries. Venue The symposium will be held at King’s Manor, part of the University of York.
It now has excellent modern facilities. Presentations will be in the Ratz Lecture Theatre, meals will be in the Huntingdon Rooms or Refectory and the exhibition will be in the Huntingdon Rooms. Details on how to get to King’s Manor can be found at http://www.york.ac.uk/np/maps/kmdirect.htm and will be given on registration. York City and Accommodation
In spring the setting is particularly picturesque, especially the ruins of the Abbey from the adjacent Botanic Garden (pictured left). There are many places to stay in York close to King’s Manor. Not all accommodation has car parking space so this will be a consideration if you are driving to York. Click here for Accommodation near King’s Manor Registration and Fees The registration fee includes attendance at the symposium, the symposium information pack and a softback of the Symposium Proceedings, refreshments and meals as listed below. Meals
The Cocktail Reception and Symposium Dinner on 20 March is not included in the basic registration fee as there are a limited number of places available.. Attendance at the Cocktail Reception and Symposium Dinner is £50 and can be booked as part of the registration fee (see below). It is expected that delegates will make their own arrangements for dinner on the registration evening, 19 March. Publication The proceedings of the symposium will be published in soft back and as a fully searchable USB stick. Delegates will receive these at the symposium. |

There will be an exhibition in the Huntingdon Rooms at King’s Manor. As can be seen from the Draft Programme and as is summarized below there should be plenty of contact time between exhibitors and delegates outside the symposium lectures.
It should be noted that Refreshments and Lunches are served in the Huntingdon Rooms. Exhibitors will be provided with a 3 metre wide exhibition space by 1.5 metres deep so display boards can be erected. Exhibitors may hire more than one exhibition space if required. There are electrical power points within relatively easy reach of the display areas. Extension leads, splitter boxes and spotlights are not provided. Tables and chairs can be provided if required. Set up will be from noon to 4pm on Monday 19 March. The cost for an exhibition space is £450+VAT. The cost of refreshments and lunches for up to two people per day manning the stand, but not attending the symposium, is included in the Exhibitor Fee. Any additional personnel manning the stand who are not registered to attend the symposium will be charged at the following rate:-
The number of exhibition spaces is limited to 15 – 20 so please sign up early to avoid disappointment. |
